Keytruda, the cancer drug used to treat the melanoma that had spread to former President Jimmy Carter’s brain, is already approved as a second-line cancer therapy, but a new study is showing it is effective as a first-line treatment. Dr. Natalie Azar tells TODAY that study participants on Keytruda were doing so well that doctors ended the trial early because it would be unethical not to give all the patients the drug.
